Hawaiian Tropic Zone Ad - NOT HOT

So, I was wandering what was the creative process behind this:
"Hey dude, let's take a cheap model in bikini".
"Sounds good man. And I would give her a tray, you know, so that people know that it's about going out".
"Ok, ok, and let's have bunch of people on that tray."
"Woah, that's so cool man. You're good. Shall we roll another one?"

Diesel & Adidas Denim Collection - HOT!

What's better than a shot of cool? A double shot of cool.
Diesel and Adidas Originals together is better than Angelina Jolie and Brat Pitt. The jeans are looking and feeling pretty goddamn good!
And the website? Off the hook.

Silent Rave, New York, Union Square, April 18th - THIS WILL BE HOT!

Oh yes.
The Essentialist doesn't usually write about things that are to happen.
We enjoy the post factum scrutiny. You know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and stuff like that.
But on April 18th good things will be happening in Union Square and we feel like we need to give heads up to everyone who doesn't have this one on their schedule yet. People will come and dance. Others will turn around. It's going to be crazy and we know it!
The idea was conceived by an exchange student from London (which gives a credit to the entire exchange student nation) and the message has been spreading quickly on Facebook and elsewhere. Hopefully a good few hundred, or perhaps, I dread to say it, even more, will show up to turn the Union Square upside down for a few hours.
We will be there and we will be dancing hard. Spread the word. Charge your iPod to the maximum and dance like there is no tomorrow.
Event: 1st New York City Silent Rave
Date: Friday April 18th
Time: 6:17pm-until who knows.
Place: Union Square NYC
Gear: Good Attitude and a Fully Charged iPod.

Global Exec Aviation Ad - HOT

Very rich people count their money. I know this, I deal with them all the time.
In light of current economic situation, with Uncle Sam chocking his guts out on the pavement, emphasizing good value and smart spending is exactly what you should do, or what every piece of research will tell you to do.
This ad does it very well.

Dell Vostro - NOT HOT

The Essentialist doesn't have many opportunities to come across a PC, but we just had a Dell Vostro in the office for half a day and it became a laughing-stock of the entire team.
I don't know where did this thing come from, but it is definitely not going anywhere, and most certainly is not carried anywhere either - it's just too damn heavy.
Gigantic and ugly as the end of the world, it looks like it belongs in the museum, definitely not 2008.
Don't ask me about performance, it was too heavy to open.

Bon V Nightclub Ad - NOT HOT (but feat. HUGE KUDOS)

It's a great concept, and I love the concept.
But there's something missing here. Almost as if the most important element (god know what that could be) is not present.
There is a lot of mystery but not a single hint. Too much mystery.

PS Yet... A huge kudos that they didn't show this crap again .

Blackstones Haircut Salon, New York, East Village - HOT!

What is the expat's worst nightmare?
Finding a job in the new city? Certainly. An apartment? Most importantly.
But what is the biggest fear that comes upon moving to our new homeland? Finding a good haircut.
And as much as The Essentialist doesn't usually write about places to visit other than clubs, Blackstones just needs a mention.
Known formerly as Beauty Parlor, it is located in East Village. It may not be the cheapest choice in the neighbourhood, but it is worth every penny.
The owner and chief hair consiglieri goes by the name of Joey Silvestera, and let us tell you, this guy has talent in his hands!
Not to forget about the rest of the stylists, who under Joey's eye will make your hair nightmares go away.
So if you're new to NYC, and still spending big bucks flying back home for an occasional haircut, you're misery is officially over.
Check out their website and find them on MySpace . You're about to look very hot.
